Our origin
Learning does not end with acquiring knowledge. Following something that moves you creates questions; you research, compare and test. Those accumulated experiences become new perspectives and choices—and lead to the next action.
Matrain values the curiosity at that entrance. Today we begin with railways and programming, and work through products, experiences and learning support. Over time, we intend to open more entrances for people of different ages and backgrounds.
Founder's story
Railways were always close to me. Station names helped me learn kanji. Timetables made numbers familiar. Travel plans taught me to compare time, cost and constraints. What I followed because I loved it had quietly become a way to think and act.
I also gave up on programming three times. If I had been able to learn by moving the railway I already loved, perhaps I could have continued more naturally. That realization became the starting point for combining railways and programming.
Matrain is not a finished company. I am still learning, and the company will keep revising what it thinks and does. That attitude is reflected in the products and experiences we offer.
Mission
We create environments and opportunities where a person can begin with “why,” test, think and expand what they can do—turning that accumulation into confidence, choices and a next step.
Vision
Age, position, environment and current ability should not define a person's possibilities. We aim to expand opportunities for each person to find a purpose and choose the next step.
